As I sit here munching on a bar of chocolate (on special in Coles so how could I resist?) I am thinking about my favourite show on Foxtel, Big Medicine. It is about two Bariatric surgeons in the U.S, father and son, who perform Bariatric surgery on overweight (obese) patients. It all seems so lovely, nice, friendly surgeons who never have a bad surgery, obese patients that lose hundreds of kilos. How easy it would be. Just to have a simple surgery and forget the diets, the frustrations of trying each day to lose weight and seeing no results. Oh, if only it were that simple.

It is NOT that easy. Ask someone who knows from personal experience. (Email me) The complications that one sometimes has to live with are NOT worth it.

I remember you saying something about that. Can you believe that my Doctor recommended it to me as the "easy way".

It is *h*ll* to go through- not the operation but afterwards. Okay, its not that bad until one's eyes are bigger than their belly...and it takes one small mouthful too much and you're lying on the ground in agony, writhing in pain...nothing works except time, say an hour or so. After that you're so scared to eat that food again that you just cross it off your list.
There are so many healthy foods that aren't easy to digest in the mouth, therefore I can't eat. But, hey it's okay coz I can still eat chocolate and all manner of fat and sugar laden foods.
So there is not way it is an easy option for self discipline is still the key- it's the key to success 5 years later.
Everyone who has WLS or a GB will lose weight and lots of it...but the success rate is much different.
The easy way - grrr let me at him!!!!!

If you feel comfortable with it, I would love to hear your testimony. There are a lot of women out there who are being persuaded that surgery is the answer. It is people like you who have been through it who need to speak up and tell how it really is.
