I just wanted to add a few pictures of the books that I am using with Preparing Hearts For His Glory. I most probably have a book addiction of sorts, so forgive me if this post bores you to tears! There is nothing more comforting (to me) than an overflowing bookcase or four. Together with a cup of Chai Tea it is about as close to perfect as you can get!!

I have developed a love for books over the last 5 years as I have been studying the Charlotte Mason Education and I now have such an appreciation and understanding of what a living book is. Thank you for sharing! xxx

Totally! I could come to your house any day to sip a chai latte and admire your bookshelves!! :) For that matter you could come to mine and do the same!! Sweet bliss. :)

A woman after my own heart, we have overflowed 3 bookshelves and are now filling up a 4th, plus there's another bookshelf full of puzzles and board games, people comment that I have my own library and my husband often jokes that he could have a book sale and make a fortune, except that I would kill him!!!!
I am very tempted by that heart of dakota stuff. I had a look at their website and love the idea of looking at history and the Bible together as the history of the world. Do you just use what they supply cause my main concern was no Australian content????
I'm thinking now would be a good time if I was going to buy anything American cause our dollar is worth close to theirs at the moment, so it wouldn't be as expensive as it could be if the dollar drops.

Hi Jenna :) we are thinking more and more about heart of Dakota and using it next year. Thank you for the pictures of some of the books you are using.
I was wondering about the cost and if it is large and if you think it's worth it?

O.K, Heart Of Dakota seems to be tailored to American History in two of the early books (Hearts For His Glory and Bigger Hearts For His GLory) Preparing Hearts For His GLory is world history so the American content is not huge. I have thought long and hard about this and in the early days thought negatively about using it because of the American History content. I now think that it is a good thing to do but I will still include Australian History by using living books as a read aloud alongside the curriculum. Sonlight is the same, I think year 3 and 4 is predominantly American History.
As for the price. The complete Preparing Hearts For His Glory cost me (with postage) $480. That is a lot of money and something that I didn't rush in to quickly! I was already using Little Hands To Heaven before looking at purchasing another level. By that stage I was convinced it would work. My way oflooking at it was that I have three younger children that will use the same curriculum in the next few years. The Aussie Dollar is brilliant at the moment and that also swayed me as a few months ago the price would have been almost double!
Hope that answers your questions.
