I have just returned from the movies with my husband. We watched the most delightful movie, "Julie And Julia" starring Meryl Streep. It is based on a true story, that of famous American Chef Julia Childs and writer, Julie Powell who wrote the book that the movie is based on.
Julia Childs was a character! One of those people that everyone would want as a friend, her personality was infectious. She was probably the first famous T.V chef, long before the days of Jamie Oliver and Gordon Ramsay! Julie Powell worked for the government before taking on the challenge of keeping a 365 day blog dedicated to the recipes in Julia Child's famous cookbook "Mastering The Art Of French Cooking".
The movie cleverly intertwines the two tales, both decades apart.
Meryl Streep does an amazing job of portraying the rather eccentric Julia. There were many moments throughout the movie that I laughed out loud...........a good feeling!
There is a little bit of swearing, but nothing that offended me. It really is one of those feel good movies that I would highly recommend. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed it!

My husband went to see this movie last night...can't wait to get his feed back about it! My man is currently away and has been for 7 weeks now...oh yes, I am missing him A LOT! Can't wait to see it! Might read the book first! xxx

Hey Sarah, 7 weeks is a LONG time to be away. Then again, they do say that absence makes the heart grow fonder!
If you read the book first you might not enjoy the movie!.....usually the way isn't it!

Thanks Jacqui!
I am going to the movies with my friend JJ tomorrow night. She had suggested this one but we also really want to see Mao's last dancer which is only on till Wednesday so that's the choice. Maybe we'll have to go another time. My hubby prefers to wait for the DVD release so doesn't like going to the theatre to see them.

Oh, I have heard rave reviews about Mao's last dancer! Such a choice to make! Enjoy the time with your friend. I am sure that whatever you choose will be great.

Word of warning.........make sure you eat before seeing this movie! Ever since I saw it I can't get out of my mind that I want to cook a "Beouf Bourgeonon" (that is how she says it!)
